RADON TEST ONLY?

 Radon is a cancer‑causing, radioactive gas. You can’t see it, smell it, or taste it — but it can still be a serious problem in your home. Radon is estimated to cause thousands of deaths each year because breathing radon over time can lead to lung cancer. The Surgeon General warns that radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States, second only to smoking.  

 Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas produced by the breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water. Air pressure inside your home is usually lower than the pressure in the soil around your foundation. Because of this difference, your home acts like a vacuum, drawing Radon in through cracks and other openings.  

 Testing is the only way to know if you and your family are at risk from radon. The EPA and the Surgeon General recommend that ALL homes be tested.  Radon can affect any home — whether it has a basement, crawlspace, or slab foundation. Because it’s driven by pressure differences between the soil and the home, all foundation types are vulnerable, not just basements. Radon testing is inexpensive, easy, and provides peace of mind.
